Does it frustrate you that you can’t check your mail a given day? Many of us the answer is ‘no’ .It can wait . right?

What about not reading newspaper? It ticks some where ? How many times  will you call your news paper agent , if he/she did not drop your  favourite magazine ? Well, many of us are people of serious stuff – news analysis to current affairs. War in Sri Lanka to Obama’s 97th day in office as the President.

Contrary to said earlier, many can’t wait checking their mails. This is again about serious stuff. Well, I don’t want to speak here about office and work at all.

Gone are the days you grabed your news paper first in the morning along with your bed coffee. Now you read your mails first, and get the news in different perspective from the people you know.Discussions,comments and opinions. .I am here speaking about two mailing list communities with relevance to Kerala.

One is Fourth Estate Critique and the other  Green Youth Movement.

Fourth Estate Critique (FEC) is a Google group on Media and Society seen active from May 2007. Managed as a private group, it provides an alternative platform to hold discussion on Media in Society in General.As of April 2009, it has got 356 members ,among them 30 being active contributes. Frankly speaking I am fan of some of the people usually writing to it. It is impressive their intellectual soundness and analytical skills. Let it be party politics or Garbage issues of Trivandrum city, one way or other people pop up with questions and discussions.  Emotions also some times run high. But that is fine.

But alas,the group discussions and valuable archives  are kept private.  I wonder why they can’t keep it open so that someone with alternative bend of mind can have look at the discussion going on-often the issues related Kerala.But you can try  requesting  here.

Green youth is a mailing list that function as a platform to share information among activists of different orientations. It is well informed network over contemporary issues with special regard to Kerala .The mailing list has a membership base of 731. The group is mostly informative in nature -valuable source to get updated on various struggles around the country. The discussions and news in this group is open to public . For me, I appreciate these groups very much though I am often a silent spectator there.It is up to you now to see it for yourself
